Whew! November was a busy month here at the Aberdeen's Kitchen. It's about time we settle in with a cocktail and a November movie date before December hits in a couple days. I'm definitely already into the Christmas beverages though sooo...Cranberry Pomegranate Prosecco Sparkler anyone??
Now onward! November movie date coming up!
Let's go to the Movies!
Saw in Theaters: Bohemian Rhapsody
YOU GUYS! I saw this movie in theaters twice. My mom said it best: "I haven’t seen a movie that good in a hundred years!". Absolutely phenomenal. I’ve always liked Queen but never really thought of myself as a big fan or anything...I’m now obsessed with Queen. I’ve been listening to their songs for weeks on end and wake up with them stuck in my head. Also, Rami Malek deserved an Oscar for his work as Freddie Mercury. SO. ON. POINT. Honestly, every band member in that movie deserves an Oscar. I cannot give this movie enough praise. GO SEE IT!
Rented for the Homestead: Red Sparrow
Ehhhh mixed feelings on this one. The bad? I felt it was suuuuper slow, and not a ton of character development. Also the wig choices for JLaw are questionable but that’s besides the point. The good? The twists, the turns, and the ENDING! It’s worth watching to see the ending. And you’re never quite sure who’s on what side! Makes for some interesting plot points, it just kind of takes forever to get there. Also, be aware this movie is NOT an action spy movie. It’s slow yet intriguing, dark, and more than just a little disturbing. I hid behind a blanket and yelled at the TV to "cut it out" more than once. I’ll say this: it’s rated R for a reason, super slow build up, fabulous ending.
Excited to See - Ralph Breaks the Internet
We’ve established I was a Disney child yes? We’ve also established I love more than my fair share of video games. Soooooo I’m a Wreck It Ralph fan, as in own the DVD on blue ray and play it frequently (not as much as Finding Nemo obviously but I’m a fan none the less). So I can’t WAIT to see this! I’ll let you know if it holds up to the first one!
I haven’t made it to Crimes of Grindelwald yet but you can bet I’ll be chowing down on some popcorn watching this VERY soon! I know I said in our October movie date that this was the next up film for November. Whoops! It hasn't slipped my mind or anything. Basically, instead of going to see this movie I went and saw Bohemian Rhapsody again. Honestly, it was a fantastic decision but I do still need to see Crimes of Grindlewald. So far I have heard mixed reviews, aka I have no idea what I'm in for! I promise I'll head out to see this pronto. This review will be featured in our next movie date in December.
Out of the Kitchen - Atlanta
This month I flew to Atlanta to visit my sister for my birthday and it was SO much fun. Our parents even flew in for the weekend! We ate snazzy food, wandered the city, and tasted ALL the whiskey. For reals though, if I ever have a whiskey question, my sister is my go to. She even went to Scotland and toured a bunch of a distilleries, which in my mind makes her the expert 😎. Other than spending time with the fam, my favorite part of the trip was visiting the Georgia Aquarium right in town (obligatory Finding Nemo clown fish photo featured above).
Growing up in California, we were a bit spoiled when it comes to aquariums (Long beach Aquarium of the Pacific, Monterey Bay Aquarium...pretty awesome). So with that said, I was pleasantly surprised by the Georgia Aquarium and absolutely floored by the Ocean Voyager Exhibit. It had FOUR manta rays and FOUR whale sharks!!! NEITHER of which I had ever seen. We started and ended our visit with that exhibit where I just sat and started at them in awe. They are HUUUUGE!
Basically, if you happen to find yourself in Atlanta, skip the World of Coke (we didn't even bother) and head on over to the Georgia Aquarium. Just that one exhibit alone will make your ticket worth it.
Also second bonus of this post...
NASTY EEL WHAT! That's a monster right there.
Food Focus
CHRISTMAS is coming!!! So it's time for some serious treats. Just a few of my all time holiday faves. Ready, set, go!
Homemade Peppermint Vodka Hot Chocolate
Chocolate Stuffed Puff Pastry Braid
Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies
And a Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake just for fun, because why not? It's Christmas!
And that brings our November movie date to a close. See you in December!
